Harry Potter Fan Theory: Harry’s Immortality

For years, Harry Potter fan theories have encompassed a big part of the fan-base. Some theories are absolutely crazy unless you read between the lines—while some actually make perfect sense. Today, we will be covering one of the theories that, to many, actually makes more sense than one might imagine.  But these are things you should never Google if you haven’t read the books!

What theory might this be, you ask? Well… Many fans theorize that Harry Potter is, in fact, immortal. While this is a very typical fan theory regardless of the fandom, Harry Potter fans actually have a good bit of evidence—the prophecy of Harry’s fight against Voldemort. More specifically, one particular line from the prophecy.

The line in question from the prophecy states as follows—either must die at the hand of the other, for neither can live while the other survives. Now, at first glance, this might not seem like much to most people—until you really read between the lines. This prophecy implies that Voldemort cannot be killed by anyone other than Harry—and that the same will go for Harry, being only killed by Voldemort. Now, this has sparked reader’s imagination—as it implies that Harry is, after Voldemort’s death, effectively immortal; a fate that is, for him, worse than death.
