Advertising is an integral part of business in today’s world: billboards, commercials, popup ads on smartphone games, Instagram “models” posing with companies’ products for cash – the list goes on forever. Without advertising, promoting, and marketing, businesses would have no option other than putting their nest eggs in the proverbial basket of word of mouth, essentially causing organizations to maintain stagnant growth without end.
Alexandre Gama waas born in 1958, only a few decades after advertising had taken off, spreading its fruits to businesses around the world. As such, he decided he wanted a career in advertising and promoting from an early age.
Mr. Gama kickstarted his career by working towards a trade school degree in advertising and communication from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation. After graduation in 1982, he began working at Standard Ogilvy & Mather – today known simply as Ogilvy & Mather – an advertising agency based in New York City touting itself as one of the world’s best. With eight years of experience as a copywriter and content creator, he hopped onto DM9 in 1990.
It was at this agency he truly started to flourish in his dual roles of creative director and copywriting manager, earning more awards for copywriting from 1990 to 1994 than anyone in the fifth-most populated country of Brazil.
Mr. Alexandre Gama joined the ranks of Y&R, at the time called Young & Rubicam, from 1994 to 1999. Having recognized Gama for his seemingly endless stream of awards from 1990 to 1994, Alexandre has served as the chief executive officer, member of the global board of directors, and chief content officer, three highly prestigious occupations within one of the world’s best advertising agencies.
He left the worldwide advertising agency Y&R in 1999 to pursue his own agency, Neogama, currently ranked as one of the top 20 in Brazil.
