NuoDB is an elastically scalable SQL database that was founded in 2008 by Barry S. Morris and Jim Starkey. Mr. Morris is now the CEO of NuoDB, and Mr. Morris is credited as coming up with the entire system and figuring it out. NuoDB is becoming increasingly popular in the technology world and is it currently being used by UAE Exchange, Kodiak, Alfa Systems, and Dassault Systems. The company continues to gain more recognition with time, and in 2013 they were listed as an important player in the Magic Quadrant of Operational Database Management at Gartner. Gartner listed them again, two years later, as a visionary in the same database.
The Mass High Tech and Boston Business Journal also put the company in their list of Innovation All Stars in 2014. Shortly after this, Mr. Morris became the executive chairman in addition to being CEO. By 2016 NuoDB was able to raised almost $60 million in funding for their company. They drew so much positive attention because they bring a very innovative and progressive idea to SQL database. NuoDB works for cloud applications by distributing objects throughout the cloud and making the whole system run much faster and more efficiently.
